Don Cornelius, long-time host and creator of the music show ‘Soul Train’ was found dead in his California home this morning. He was 75.
According to the Huffington Post, police found him dead with
a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in his Sherman Oaks home at 4
a.m.
Cornelius succeeded at creating an African-American version
of Dick Clark’s influential music show ‘American Bandstand.’ ‘Soul Train’ premiered
on August 19, 1970 and ran up until 2006 making it the longest running
syndicated show in history.
Don Cornelius is survived by two sons, Anthony and Raymond.
